QR codes in the wild with zero tracking attached.
Scanned the QR code on a leaflet that took up a third of the page.
What proper tracking actually costs. The only thing missing was knowing how.
Marketers who actually connect their QR scans to revenue. The rest measure clicks, opens and engagement, and stop there
If you're not measuring campaigns accurately there's one guarantee - its hard to justify budgets.
Discover how we tracked $82,554 in email revenue, down to every single email send...
This workshop will show you how to use campaign tracking parameters (or UTM parameters) properly across QR codes, emails, Meta ads and any other eternal link you'd like to track - including offline campaigns in print.
I'll also show you the potential downsides of using built in email software tracking, how to best organise your tracking parameters to improve reporting - using real live client examples (anonymised of course)
Think about the last thing you put out a QR code on a poster. An email to your list. An ad running on Meta. Now don't tell me how many people scanned it, opened it, or clicked it. Tell me what it sold.
If you're not sure of the answer, don't stress...you're not alone, and that's exactly the issue. Most businesses stop at the vanity number because their QR generator or email tool hands it to them for free. Revenue takes actual setup. So they report the number they have, not the number that matters, and call it a result.
A recent industry survey found that most marketers measure click-through rate, engagement or conversion rate from their QR campaigns, but only 1 in 8 actually connect those scans to revenue.
Seven out of eight marketers are reporting numbers that don't mean anything, and most of them don't know it.
That's the gap. Not a tech gap. A standards gap. The good marketers in any room already know clicks don't pay invoices, revenue does, and they've quietly built the system to prove it while everyone else is still bragging about open rates.
And when it's time to ask for more budget, you have nothing to show. No proof of what worked, so your marketing looks like a cost to be cut rather than an investment that pays.
This workshop is how you build that system in 75 minutes, for free, because campaign tracking / UTM tracking costs nothing. It just requires knowing how to set it up properly.
I'll also go through some really neat uses of QR Codes.

This is your marketing without tracking. Confident. Moving fast. Driving blind.
Real examples from chairlift campaigns, billboards, restaurant menus, conference bags, cruise tourism, and Google review cards. Every example in this workshop is something Darren has photographed, scanned, and clicked through himself.
You'll see QR codes done brilliantly and QR codes done expensively wrong. Including a ski resort poster with 15 codes - each going to a different activity page. That is how you do it.
- Chairlift and billboard campaigns
- Restaurant and tourism examples
- Conference and event use cases
- Google review cards at point of sale
A short-code redirect on your own domain. UTM parameters that structure your data properly. As long as the visitor reaches your website, you can't break anything - it's just that without structure, your report will be useless.
- Short-code redirects - change destinations without reprinting
- UTM parameters explained simply
- How to structure source, medium, campaign
- Live build using Google's free URL builder
Where your UTM data lives in Google Analytics 4, what to look for, and the one question every campaign needs to be able to answer: did it pay for itself?
- Finding your data in GA4 Traffic Acquisition
- Revenue vs clicks - what to look at
- What happens when your source doesn't map to a standard channel
- Live Q&A (attendees only - not in replay)
• The Campaign Tracking / UTM anatomy — source, medium, campaign, content, term, and exactly when to use each one (most people get this wrong from day one)
• A naming convention that scales — so six months from now your reports aren't a graveyard of inconsistent tags like "fb_ad1" next to "Facebook_Campaign_Spring"
• QR code tracking, with real examples — dozens of real campaigns where the business had no idea if they earned a penny, from ski chairlifts to tourism brochures to billboards, so you see exactly what good and bad tracking looks like before you build your own
• Email campaign tracking, with real client data — anonymized email and Meta (Facebook and Instagram) campaigns, so you see every click and exactly what revenue came from each link and each campaign
• Facebook Ads tracking — set up UTMs that survive ad platform quirks and report correctly, using the same mechanism Google Ads and Meta use to know what works themselves
• Short codes and redirects — future-proof your campaigns so you can change where a QR code or link points, without reprinting or relaunching anything. No code, works on any platform
• Campaign Tracking / UTM template — a naming convention that makes your reporting better - we'll give you the best practices based on real life experience
• Reading the results in GA4 — how UTMs map to channel groupings, so campaigns show up correctly instead of disappearing into "direct" or "unknown," and how to read revenue versus clicks to see the real return on every campaign
• Answering the one question that matters — did this campaign actually drive sales or leads, or just clicks? This is also how you defend your budget, or make the case for a bigger one
Real campaigns, real examples. Walk through the full system at your own pace and leave with something you can apply the same day.
A Google Sheet to log every QR code and UTM link you create. Google's URL builder generates links. It doesn't help you remember what you've got out in the world. This does.
How to create redirects on your own domain so you can update campaign destinations without reprinting anything. WordPress walkthrough included..
Ever wondered what causes visitors to go into the different 'buckets' of traffic - referrals, email etc - and the downside of relying on 'Direct'? We'll cover that too. This cheat sheet will show you which source and medium combinations map to which default channels in GA4 - and what to do when yours doesn't fit a standard bucket.
Your questions answered by Darren. Not in the replay. Worth showing up for.
Recording sent to all registered attendees. Revisit any section when you're ready to implement.

"Fully Charged Media was very helpful to me in understanding what it would take to migrate one of my client's sites from UA to G4.
